Black Parade Memory Box

In our Fall ‘22 Interaction Inquiry course, we were tasked with redeveloping the creative direction for an album, making it into a container for sound. I chose to study My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade”, taking the story of the main character, “The Patient,” and curating a memory box based off of the events recounted throughout the album.

For this, I designed a small parade flyer, hospital bracelet, toe tag, and medication label to be placed on a bottle. The lyrics of the album were typewritten on steno pad paper, with handwritten additions in certain areas. Additionally, I created a data visualization of the frequency of each word used throughout the album, resulting in a long, peaking line reminiscent of a heartbeat.
