From My Mother’s Kitchen

My mother’s kitchen was where I learned to cook for myself, where my height was logged on the pantry door frame with each passing year. It’s also a space that my younger brother and I would run through when we’d chase each other in circles. Living room. Kitchen. Dining room. Living room. Kitchen. Dining room.

It’s my belief that kitchens were created for this purpose, to harbor the nuances of our lives, to capture the silly pantomime of children, to unite families through rich food and flavorful conversation, and most importantly, to create memories.

With all this in mind, I created a cookbook which does the job of a recipe box, a photo album, and a scrapbook. Through this format, my hope was to share some of my favorite recipes from my mother, as well as sharing some memories from her kitchen and thoughts about the kitchen as a space for growth.
