Icebox Expressions
This piece is a love letter to my memories of playing with fridge magnets as a child. By bringing literal refrigerator doors into the gallery space, as well as constructing a kitchen-esque environment around them, the audience is transported to a playful kitchen setting which allows them to immerse themselves in the simple, childlike joy of rearranging the magnets on the door.
For this piece, I first wrote three poems, which were all reminiscent of my childhood experiences. I then created poetry magnets from the printed poems, allowing the audience to take my words to create their own sentences. In addition to this, I made 3D models of a handwritten character set, which were then 3D printed to make the letter magnets.
