Jack & The Giant Face Off

For our final project in our character design elective, we were tasked with creating a set of characters based off of classic fairytales, but with a twist.

I chose to make designs for characters in “Jack and The Beanstalk,” but with a futuristic dystopian twist. Jack is an experienced hacker, and his mother is his reason for his work — he supports her with it. He’s become quite the nuiscance to the C.E.O. of Edison Engineering — the “Tech Giant” is what everybody calls him. Although he’s programmed his assets (and his robot wife) to be unattainable and accessable to only him, Jack’s skills foil the Giant’s attempts to have control over his wealth and luxuries. The Giant’s wife helps Jack to steal company secrets and assets, and The Giant is none the wiser the entire time.

This piece shows Jack and The Giant sitting across from each other on public transit, showing that the Giant has been forced to change his lifestyle as a result of Jack’s actions. Jack nervously, but bravely, looks The Giant in his eyes, wondering if he knows his secret. Jack’s mother and The Giant’s wife reside at the furthest end of the train car, nervous to see the interaction unfold, if it will.
